TMZ reports "According to the female victim -- who cops refuse to identify -- she and Chris got into an argument which turned violent. Cops say when they arrived to the scene, Brown had split, but the woman had "visible injuries and identified Brown as her attacker."

Chris Brown Under Investigation For Alleged Assault - News Story | Music, Celebrity, Artist News | MTV News

"The police department said in a release that the 19-year-old R&B singer and an unidentified woman were in a vehicle in the Hancock Park neighborhood of Los Angeles early Sunday (February 8) when they began arguing.
Police said Brown and the woman got out of the car and the argument escalated; the woman reportedly identified Brown as her attacker. Officers said Brown was not present at the scene at the time. People.com is reporting that the woman suffered visible injuries.
A rep for the singer had not responded to MTV News' requests for comment at press time.
According to Entertainment Weekly's Web site, Rihanna and Brown were involved in a car accident Sunday night; a rep for her would not confirm or deny the accident, saying only that "Rihanna is well. Thank you for the care and support."
"It was announced on "E" Sunday night that neither Rihanna nor Chris Brown will be performing at the Grammy Awards as scheduled; the Recording Academy has issued a press release confirming that Rihanna will not be appearing at the show."
